Brewerton, NY, just about to enter Lake Oneida

The channel markers have not been cleared and some are under debris and off station.
We waited one day after the locks opened before we set out.  As you can see the dam is really overflowing, the waters are still high but the locks are able to function.

Still in Oswego!

Looks like we will be leaving Oswego tomorrow.  They have opened the Oswego locks today but we wanted to give it some time to hopefully clear the debris
Just walking around town

The very quiet lock on the right and the overflow from the dam on the left

On the walking trail there is a tunnel that goes under the street in front of the court house.  There used to be a RR going thru the tunnel, now it's part of a walking trail and riverwalk.
The grain elevators makes Shore Thing look very small

Thursday night, music on the river
Every Thursday there is a farmers market and they close off the main street from 3pm to 8pm

View of the breakwater around the harbor on a very windy day with Lake Ontario in the background

Our friends on Amy K, Eric and Mary, were stuck with us in Joliet.  They live near Rochester and came to Oswego to have lunch with us and take us anywhere we needed to go.

Oswego Town Wall

Walking along the River we came across this building.  Sure needed that when Bren was on board!

Red light at the lock indicates that they are not open again today.

Oswego Town Wall

We are awaiting the opening of the locks here in Oswego.  It looks like we will be "River Rats" again.  All the rain that fell has caused the Rivers to rise to flood conditions both here and in the Erie Canal.  We have to wait and see how long it will take for the water to recede and for the Canal System to get aids to navigation back on station.

All the tour boats going to Bolt Castle on Heart Island.  This Castle is being restored because it fell into complete disrepair

They rent this castle out for $750 per night for the first couple and then $60 each additional person.  You have the whole island to yourself!

Here is an old friend of ours

View out of a window on the third floor
This castle did not have to be restored just updated because someone lived in it continuously.  The original owner was the third president of Singer Sewing Machine Company and introduced buying on time.

Anchorage is near Gananoque and the tour boats of the 1000 Islands abound

Fort Henry across from downtown Kingston.  Built to defend against the US after the war of 1812.

Across Kingston Harbor is Wolfe Island with all the windmills.  Yesterday it was too windy and all the mills were turned off.  When the wind gets to a certain velocity they turn the windmills off so that the blade tips do not reach the speed of sound and create a sonic boom, which would destroy the blades.  The windmill farm creates enough electricity to power all of Kingston.
