Anchorage Horn Harbor

We came in early to anchor.  We were aiming for Norfolk but the prediction was for heavy winds so we opted to find a protected anchorage early.  The wind never developed here so we were wondering if the winds developed in Norfolk.

Well, we had to share the anchorage with other boats!

Quite, calm anchorage after 93 miles was a welcome sight.

We saw our first pelican today, could warm weather be near?

Mooring Ball, Annapolis, MD

Our dear friends, Diane and Bob, drove two hours to see us.  Well, they also had to do some shopping in Annapolis

Chesapeake City, MD in the C & D Canal Free Dock

We spent a very quiet night at a free dock in Chesapeake City.  As the days get shorter we have less time for travel.  We arrived at the dock as the sun set.  We had a nice dinner at the Bayard Inn--live music was great and the people were friendly.  First night of the World Series and we are in Phillys territory!

Not sure where this aircraft carrier is going--maybe to the bottom of the sea!

After spending several days in Cape May we left the marina and headed to the Delaware Bay and River.  The prediction was for winds to pick up to 20 mph in the afternoon and we figured that it would be okay since we would be in the narrow part of the river by then.  After much figuring about tides and when to leave to ride the tide we left an hour before low tide.  Unfortunately we got bad info, we fought the tide whole way.  After a few miles in the Bay we encountered fog which made us appreciate our radar!  The fog lifted after about 2 1/2 hours.

Still in Cape May, NJ

Sunset over the marina

Cape May is know for it victorian houses, this one is ready for halloween

We were trying to figure out what this is--any ideas?

We decided to take a walking tour of Cape May.  Everyone is getting ready for Halloween, only four days away!

Very popular restaurant in south Jersey a block from our marina.  It brought back memories after living in New Jersey for 28 years.

Here is the culprit.  The raw water intake pump developed a leak and has to be replaced.  Ed went into the engine room Sat. and discovered the leak.  He called all the marinas in the area and discovered that none of them had it in stock--1-800-CALL RANDY and he was able to order it and have it delivered here at the marina today.  The weather now is not looking good for a few days so we are not sure when we will leave good ole Cape May!

Utsch"s Marina, Cape May, NJ

We had a smooth ride down the New Jersey coast from Atlantic City and arrived in Cape May at noon.  The weather service had issued a small craft warning for 11 am but the winds were a little late in arriving.  We will probably be here through Sun.  Hopefully Mon morning we will be on our way again.

Anchorage Rum Point, Atlantic City, NJ

Well, I used the slow cooker today and it was good and bad--good because it was all ready when we arrived at the anchorage.  Bad--because we smelled the fragrance all day and were so hungry.

Here is the send off committee,
Randy, Carl, Lolly, LouAnn, Fran and Duncan
It might have been the continuation of the party two days ago.
These wonderful souls got up before the crack of dawn to help us off with our lines.
We left our slip in Mumford Cove at 7:05 am, temp 35 degrees, ice on the boat!
