Home, Mumford Cove, Groton, CT

Welcome back party at the SeaHorse!
The End of this journey--we'll see if more is to come.
As you can see, New England is cold and rainy!

Ed doing a fine job of getting Shore Thing into her slip.

We finally left Niantic River in the rain and were heading for home.

Anchorage Niantic River

Well it took almost 24 hours for them to repair the bridge!
We were prolonging our trip and stopped in Niantic for an overnight--it was more than we bargained for. The railroad bridge that has to be lifted to get into the river is stuck in the down position. They cannot tell us when they can lift the bridge. So far we have been waiting six hours!

More of the Thimbles

We thought we would anchor in the Thimble Islands. Unfortunately, it was a weekend and very busy--no room at the inn.

Anchorage Calf Islands, Greenwich, CT

We were expecting a thunderstorm so when we saw a bright light we were surprised to see a nearby fireworks display. An unexpected treat. Awhile later the thunderstorm arrived.

This is where we crossed our wake--we have completed the LOOP! Over 7000 miles, two foreign countries and we are still talking!!!

Lady Liberty--a great sight

Since we were going up the East River we decided to go the eastern route of the harbor, Brooklyn is in the background

Verazanno Narrows Bridge. The day was not the best--a lot of smog so that you cannot see NYC

These were just a few of the fishing boats in Raritan Bay--can there be any fish left?

A crane barge!

Fort Hancock, Sandy Hook. Atlantic Highlands High School has a field hocky field to the right of the houses. It is a beautiful setting with the ocean on one side and Raritan Bay on the other. I enjoyed the view a few times when our daughter, Laura, played for Holmdel against Atlantic Highlands

Anchorage Atlantic Highlands, NJ

We were watching a beautiful sunset from the boat.

Our friend, Ismail spent the evening with us after dropping off is wife, Fifi, at JFK airport. We missed FeFe by a day.

Integrity is the name of Walter Cronkite's boat.

This is newscaster Walter Cronkite's boat.
We were still in Atlantic Highlands waiting out bad weather that never happened.

Trio of owners of Grand Cru, a Pearson 26, Richie, Jim and Walter, Richie's Dad.
Ed's old friend--they started work together at DuPont 42 years ago. Walter was one of Ed's apartment mates before we got married.

We were at anchor at the town marina in Atlantic Highlands--Grand Cru was coming in from Wed. night races.

Asbury Park Convention Center--brought back memories of camping and boating shows when we lived in central New Jersey. Still not many people on the beach. Bruce Springsteen has tried to help revitalize this town but it doesn't look like it is working.

It was such a beautiful day on the ocean we decided to take the outside passage. This is Point Pleasant Beach where most shore people have visited.
