Brunswick Landing Marina, Brunswick, Georgia

We're in the middle of a Nor'easter as you can tell by the grey skies. Three days of rain and heavy wind so far. So we decided to rent a car and head for home earlier than planned and will visit with family and friends for the next 2 weeks.

Brunswick Landing Marina is a huge marina with nice new floating docks, free laundry (important to us Loopers) and reasonable rates.
View from our bow - all the shrimp boats are in port waiting for the winds to die down.

Nearby paper mill, common in this area. You really know it's there when the wind blows if the wrong direction!

Brunswick Landing Marina, Ga

We will wait out the weather here at Brunswick Landing Marina. There is a nor'easter forming off the coast.
Mumford Creek--is it anything like Mumford Cove?

Kings Bay Sub base, huge drive-in submarine degaussing unit (degaussing is the process of decreasing or eliminating an unwanted magnetic field), with this great equipment how can Groton Sub Base compete!

Spider web that looked intricate in the sunlight

One of the walking paths on the island. The National Park Service owns about 85% of the island.

Ferry from St. Mary's to Cumberland Island. Only means of getting to the island other than anchoring off and dinghy in. The Island has quit a history--Indians, Spanish (1500's), British, Andrew Carnegie's brother built a mansion here.

Last point of land in Florida on Amelia Island, Fort Clinch State Park

Looks like a bike race over one of the bridges along the way

Anchorage Daytona

View from anchorage of Daytona
It was a hazy day but we think this is the second shuttle on the pad ready for take off

Said goodbye to friends and family and headed north. VAB building--missed the shuttle launch on May 12--heard there were a lot of clouds masking the shuttle. We saw it at the Villages!

Mooring Ball, Vero Beach Muni Marina

We hooked up to a mooring ball at the Vero Beach Municipal Marina. This is our most desireable way of spending the night - secure on a mooring ball and no hassle with the anchor or tying up to a fixed dock and hooking up power lines.

Return to US

The pictures really do not depict the number of boats and people.
Culture shock as we turned the corner coming in the cut from the ocean. There were at least a 1000 boats and many more people at Peanut Island just inside the cut at West Palm
