Chesapeake City, MD in the C & D Canal Free Dock

We spent a very quiet night at a free dock in Chesapeake City.  As the days get shorter we have less time for travel.  We arrived at the dock as the sun set.  We had a nice dinner at the Bayard Inn--live music was great and the people were friendly.  First night of the World Series and we are in Phillys territory!

Not sure where this aircraft carrier is going--maybe to the bottom of the sea!

After spending several days in Cape May we left the marina and headed to the Delaware Bay and River.  The prediction was for winds to pick up to 20 mph in the afternoon and we figured that it would be okay since we would be in the narrow part of the river by then.  After much figuring about tides and when to leave to ride the tide we left an hour before low tide.  Unfortunately we got bad info, we fought the tide whole way.  After a few miles in the Bay we encountered fog which made us appreciate our radar!  The fog lifted after about 2 1/2 hours.
